Whether you're looking for the best street stopping performance, or need a pad that will withstand the rigors of track use, Damond Motorsports you covered with G-LOC Brakes™ brake pads for the Mazdaspeed3.

G-LOC Brakes™ was created by racers with the sole intention of providing the highest level of performance friction materials and truly outstanding customer service in the market. G-LOC™ supplies high performance brake pads for daily drivers, occasional track day enthusiasts, HPDE regulars, autocrossers, club racers, professional racers, armored vehicles, law enforcement vehicles, emergency vehicles, and even heavy duty military vehicles.

The broad range of G-LOC™ friction material formulations will provide the highest performance over all operating conditions. Their unsurpassed modulation/control with a very smooth release is what gives you total control of maximizing your braking ability.

Only G-LOC™ uses proprietary Carbon, Ceramic, Kevlar, and Metallic compound formulations. They do not load up our compounds with carbon and iron like most of their competitors like to do, which is extremely harsh on your discs/rotors. G-LOC™ compound formulations are some of the most disc/rotor friendly compounds offered in the world. Each G-LOC™ compound is the result of an extensive and rigorous R&D process that gives customers peace of mind knowing that they can rely on the consistency and high performance nature of every one of their compounds.

Pad Compounds available:

G-LOC™  GS-1

The G-LOC™ GS-1 is our high performance street compound.  GS-1 produces very little dust and very little noise, while maintaining excellent initial bite and torque for street use.  GS-1 has been unmatched in the industry for disc/rotor friendliness as well as its longevity. This compounds excellent performance on the street provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. G-LOC™ GS-1 operating range starts at ambient up to 800°F (426°C). GS-1 is suitable for ALL street cars, tow vehicle, fleet vehicle, and armored vehicles. G-LOC™  GS-1 is NOT recommended for ANY track use.

G-LOC™  R6

The R6 has been specifically engineered for Autocross applications. An ultra high cold torque compound delivering consistent performance from dead cold (0°F) up to 1000°F + (0°C to 537°C+). The advanced compound matrix provides an excellent initial bite, high coefficient of friction at lower temperatures along with very progressive brake modulation and release characteristics. The R6™ compound is widely used for street use as well, but this compound will more than likely make noise on the street.  G-LOC™  doesn’t recommend street driving on with R6 due to possible elevated levels of dust and noise. R6 is NOT recommended for road racing (closed circuit) use in most applications.

G-LOC™  R8:

A high torque brake compound with a wide operating temperature range of 74°F-1250°F+ (23°C to 676°C+).  G-LOC™ R8 is the first of our extensive lineup of racing compounds. Good initial bite along with excellent modulation and release characteristics. Extremely high fade resistance and very rotor friendly. Perfect for track day use with any tire and can still be driven safely to and from the track. G-LOC™ does NOT recommended R8 for daily use on the street due to elevated levels of dust and noise. G-LOC™ R8 is a popular compound for open wheel type of race cars.  R8 is also used on most Formula SAE team cars, along with shifter karts, dirt bikes, ATV’s, and even Mountain bikes.

G-LOC™  R10:

The R10 has a much stronger initial bite and higher coefficient of friction than the R8.  The R10 compound still maintains our smooth release, excellent modulation and rotor friendliness that have been engineered into all previous G-LOC™ compounds.   The R10 compound leads the industry in disc/rotor friendliness . The R10™ has a broad temperature range that begins at 118°F and a fade resistance is in excess of 1475°F (47°C – 801°C). G-LOC™ does NOT recommended R10 for daily use on the street due to elevated levels of dust and noise.

G-LOC™  R12:

Raising the bar even higher is the R12 compound with an excellent initial bite, high and consistent torque, and outstanding fade resistance over and above the R10.  R12 has a temperature range of 173°F to 1860°F (78°C to 1015°C). The G-LOC™ R12 continues our excellent release and modulation that has been engineered into all previous G-LOC™ compounds. The R12 is slightly more disc/rotor aggressive than R10 but more disc/rotor friendly compared to our competition. G-LOC™ does NOT recommended R12 for daily use on the street due to elevated levels of dust and noise.

G-LOC™  R14:

The R14 compound was engineered for endurance racing with lighter weight, lower horsepower cars in mind.  R14 has solid initial bite, a little less modulation than the R10 or R12.  R14 has great fade resistance with a temperature range of 210°F to 1400°F (98°C to 760°C).  R14 is as rotor friendly as our R12 compound.  G-LOC™ does NOT recommended R14 for daily use on the street due to elevated levels of dust and noise.

G-LOC™  R16:

The R16 is an extremely aggressive initial bite, linear torque curve and excellent fade resistance compound from our lineup of R-Series compounds.  The R16 is a natural progression of the highly successful R-Series line of compounds from G-LOC™.  R16 has a temperature range of 255°F to 2000°F (123°C to 1093°C).  G-LOC™  R16 maintains our philosophy of modulation and release that has been the foundation of all other G-LOC™ R-Series compounds.  G-LOC™ does NOT recommended R16 for daily use on the street due to elevated levels of dust and noise and the amount of heat needed to work properly.

G-LOC™  R18:

The R18 is the pinnacle compound of the R-Series compounds engineered by G-LOC™.  R18 is based on the same successful principals and fundamentals that exist in all other G-LOC™ R-Series formulations. R18 has more initial bite, overall bite, and  even more controllable torque.  The R18 offers the absolute most linear torque curve we have ever created.  The thermal characteristics and coefficient of friction are of the highest offered by anyone in the braking industry .  This revolutionary compound will lead the way in all major forms of racing (professionally and grassroots).  R18 has a temperature range of 610°F to 2100°F+ (321°C to 1149°C+).  G-LOC™ does NOT recommended R18 for daily use on the street due to elevated levels of dust and noise and the amount of heat needed to work properly.

G-LOC R16 brake pads for the win!

I bought a stock 2013 Mazdaspeed 3 two years ago, as my daily driver but also as a track toy. My first upgrade was Motul RBF 600 brake fluid followed quickly by better brake pads, but at least at Laguna Seca the car devoured brakes.

In January, at Damond's recommendation, I upgraded to G-LOC pads (R12 front, R10 rear). They survived with flying colors! After three successful track days I finally made some modest engine tweaks (also using parts from Damond), bumping up the stock 263-horsepower by 10-15% but more importantly making a broader power band.

My next day at Laguna Seca incinerated the R12 front brakes (and melted off wheel weights). In a little over two hours on track, I went from ~90% of the brake pads to about 10%.

A big brake kit (BBK) and brake cooling ducts are in my winter plans but I wanted to squeeze in a Black Friday track day at Laguna Seca as it would be my 50th time on track, and I couldn't think of a better place to mark such a milestone. That meant a patch for the brakes to get me through the day.

Damond's suggestion was G-LOC R16 pads (and Motul RBF 660 fluid). I was hesitant since the car is also my daily driver and I'm too lazy to change pads before and after track days, but was assured that the R16 pads are similar to the R12 pads for street use: squeaky but adequate, just not at their full performance. The R16 pads performed admirably, with minimal wear and no sign of significant heat damage. I was super happy!

(I didn't manage to beat my previous-best lap time but came close; the shortfall was because even with RBF 660 I boiled the fluid. The G-LOC R16 pads performed well, easily exceeding my hopes.)
