Installing clutches is a long and arduous process, having the right tools can make the difference between pulling your hair out and breezing through the job. We came up with this simple tool that bolts to the engine block and splines with the starter teeth on the flywheel to keep it locked in place so the flywheel bolts can be torqued to spec without the operator having to hold the crankshaft at the same time.
Made from a high strength plastic, it's plenty strong to hold the flywheel in place while the bolts are torqued to spec. We've actually tested this part by tightening the crank pulley bolt beyond 250ft/lbs!
To use, simply slide the tool over the dowel pin nearest to where the starter mounts on the front of the engine, and secure it with the factory bellhousing bolt for that location. This just needs to be hand tight. The teeth of the tool will mesh with the flywheel; you may need to turn the flywheel a few degrees to get everything to line up properly.
