Damond Motorsports Hyundai Elantra N Stage 2 Oil Catch Can Kit Install Guide

Damond Motorsports Oil Catch Can kits come with everything needed for an optimized Oil Catch Can system. An oil catch can is, in a sense, a filter for the positive crankcase ventilation system. Here is our install guide for the Hyundai Elantra N Stage 2 OCC kit.

Tools required/purpose:

Jack and jack stands or lift or ramps/to lift the car

10mm wrench, ideally a 10mm ratcheting wrench to attached OCC bracket to the vehicle

Socket wrench and torque wrench:

10mm socket/attach bracket to OCC

Flathead screwdriver to tighten hose clamps

Pliers to remove/install factory hose clamps

Scissors to cut drain hose

Motor oil, not needed but can help to ease the hoses onto the fittings

Begin by lifting and supporting the front of the vehicle.

Remove the engine cover atop the engine by pulling straight up.

Prep the OCC by threading the provided drain barb into the OCC drain valve. Install the provided drain hose and secure it to the drain barb with a provided zip tie. Next take the provided OCC bracket and install it to the OCC with the provided 10mm bolts a shown. Tighten to 10Nm.

Locate the diagnostics dongle and remove the 10mm bolt securing it to the strut tower. This bolt will not be reused.

Get the OCC and bracket into place and secure the bracket to the strut tower, along with the diagnostics dongle, with the provided 10mm bolts. The space here is tight, so using a closed end wrench or a ratcheting wrench is recommended. Tighten to roughly 10Nm.

When mounting the OCC, position the drain hose as shown here:

Locate the factory PCV hose going from the valve cover to the intake tube. Remove the tube from the intake and rotate the hose so it is positioned to the right side of the vehicle as shown.

Install the longer of the provided hoses onto the intake port using the small section of larger hose and secure the hose to the intake port with the provided hose clamp.

Take the shorter hose and secure the hose barb to the hoses with a provided hose clamp. since this hose will be routed near wiring, it is recommended to wrap the hose clamp with some electrical tape as shown. Install this into the factory hose and secure it to the hose with the factory squeeze clamp.

Next route the hoses underneath the wiring as shown, and secure them to the OCC with the provided hose clamps. The hose from the valve cover will go to the bottom OCC port and the hose from the intake will go to the top OCC port.

Route the drain hose down below the engine bay and secure it as you see fit. Be sure to keep it free from moving components, such as the axle and the steering rack.

Included is a zip tie intended to go into this chassis hole to help secure the drain hose.

Cut the excess hose where you'd like.

You have successfully installed the OCC kit. Start the vehicle and carefully inspect the system for any leaks. Reinstall the engine cover.

Draining the OCC:

The DM OCC features an easy to use drain valve.  When the valve arm is vertical the drain is open, and when the arm is horizontal the valve is closed.  Be sure to not run the engine with the valve in the open position, as this will cause poor idling conditions and stuttering.  Drain the OCC contents into a container, as you would engine oil, and dispose of it properly and legally.  Be sure to wear protective gloves when handling the OCC fluids, as well as any engine oil, for that matter.

We hope you enjoy our Elantra N OCC kit!
