Damond Motorsports Hyundai Elantra N Stage 1 Oil Catch Can Kit Install Guide
Damond Motorsports Oil Catch Can kits come with everything needed for an optimized Oil Catch Can system. An oil catch can is, in a sense, a filter for the positive crankcase ventilation system. Here is our install guide for the Hyundai Elantra N Stage 1 OCC kit.
Tools required/purpose:
Jack and jack stands or lift or ramps/to lift the car
Socket wrench and torque wrench:
10mm socket/attach bracket to OCC
12mm socket/attach bracket to engine
Flathead screwdriver to tighten hose clamps
Pliers to remove/install factory hose clamps
Scissors to cut drain hose
Motor oil, not needed but can help to ease the hoses onto the fittings
Begin by lifting and supporting the front of the vehicle.
Remove the engine cover atop the engine by pulling straight up.
Locate the 2 x 12mm timing cover bolts above the engine mount on the right of the engine, and remove these 2 bolts. Next take the provided OCC bracket and install it to the timing cover with the 2 bolts removed prior. Tighten to 20Nm.

Thread in the provided drain barb and try to align it as shown. Install the provided drain hose and secure it to the drain barb with a provided zip tie.

Attach the OCC to the bracket using the provided 10mm bolts. Tighten to 10Nm.

Remove the factory PCV hose from the valve cover using a pair of pliers to open the spring hose clamp. Next use the plier to open the clamp securing the hose to the intake manifold, and rotate the hose on the manifold port, to position the hose over the manifold.

Take the hose with the check valve and the hose barb fitting and place a hose clamp on onto the hose to retain the hose barb fitting. Next take this hose barb fitting and install it to the factory hose now over the manifold and secure the factory hose with the factory clamp removed earlier. Take the other hose and install it onto the valve cover and secure it with a provided hose clamp.

Route the hoses to the OCC and secure the check valve hose to the top port and valve cover hose to the bottom port on the OCC. Secure the hoses with the provided hose clamps.

Route the drain hose over the AC lines and away from the accessory belt. Secure the drain hose to the AC line with a provided zip tie.

Route the drain hose down below the engine bay and secure it as you see fit. Here we have it attached to the AC line with a provided zip tie. You may wish to drill a hole into the undertray to allow the hose to pass through for easy draining. Cut the excess drain hose with a pair of scissors.

You have successfully installed the OCC kit. Start the vehicle and carefully inspect the system for any leaks. Reinstall the engine cover.
Draining the OCC:
The DM OCC features an easy to use drain valve. When the valve arm is vertical the drain is open, and when the arm is horizontal the valve is closed. Be sure to not run the engine with the valve in the open position, as this will cause poor idling conditions and stuttering. Drain the OCC contents into a container, as you would engine oil, and dispose of it properly and legally. Be sure to wear protective gloves when handling the OCC fluids, as well as any engine oil, for that matter.
We hope you enjoy our Elantra N OCC kit!
